Body dysmorphia is a disease that affects nearly 5 million people in the US alone. It is not talked about nearly enough even now. the feeling that the whole world has all eyes on you and you are not enough for this world. Nothing can give you release from the eyes. Social media sells young minds on the perfect image of a woman from celebrities to models. Self-confidence, and self-esteem lowering each time you look in the mirror, every day not seeing the reflection you want to see. Cosmetic surgery, diets, extensions, expensive fancy clothes, shiny shoes. Nothing is enough to make you feel beautiful, nothing can suffice the hunger, except self-acceptance and love for yourself. After many years of struggle, I learned just that. How can you expect others to accept you if you can't accept yourself?

If you or someone you know needs help with anything along the lines of body image issues and/or eating disorders please contact the hotline: (800) 931-2237.

My sustained investigation is a study and representation of women and the effects social media, and societal standards have on them and how it leads to problems in their minds, bodies, and souls. Throughout my pieces, I will show what I learned while studying and experiencing mental illnesses such as body image issues, body dysmorphia, lack of self-confidence, and lack of love.
